Chapter in Focus: Sebastian Inlet

Chapter in Focus: Sebastian Inlet

Why do so many of the best surfers in the world seem to come from the East Coast and in particular from Florida? Answer: Sebastian Inlet.

In this month's Chapter in Focus we are interviewing CS Sebastian Inlet's own Tripp Hernandez. CSSI draws members from Melbourne Beach, Vero Beach as well as Ft. Pierce. They also have a singular passion for evangelism and outreach which results in them helping out at the many, many contests that come through Sebastian Inlet. Click here to read more.

At ASR this year we decided to shift focus from what the industry could do for us to what we could do for the industry. January’s show launched this new approach. Starting each day with a “booth to booth” coffee service, it allowed us to make new friends and get reacquainted with others. Teams also walked the show silently praying for people, and from our booth we passed out evangelical surf DVD’s, information about and how to join CSUS.

The most impact came as we offered to help exhibitors move out of their booth spaces. People seeing us in yellow shirts at work, started calling from all areas for help. What a blessing for the 35+ volunteers to be used by God to help people and to demonstrate the love of Jesus!

If you would like to get involved in a relevant way and make a difference at ASR (West Coast) or Surf Expo (East Coast) please contact us atinfo@christiansurfers.com.

US Christian Surfers

Dear Christian Surfers Charleston Friends and Supporters

By: Bill Hogan

Please check out the updated site and sign up for the Monday morning devotional. It is a great way to begin the week. Take a look at the CS Prep School to be held at Cape Hatteras and Huntington Beach. If you are young, go! If you are older, we always need volunteers.

Big news ... this weekend starts the 2009 ESA surf contests at the Washout on Folly ... participate, volunteer or watch. Nancy Hussey and Tim Askins are the directors who will never turn down a helping hand. It is also a good time to support your local economy with a stimulus purchase at you local surf shops ... have you checked out the boards for 2009?

Christian Surfers Charleston has been quiet this winter just like the swells. We are looking for an uptick to spread the good news of the Lord and spend more time with many of you. We are still trying to lock in a date for our movie premier of "Walking on Water". We are hoping to have it at St. Andrews like we did two years ago since they were such wonderful hosts.

Check out our Wednesday morning small group/life lessons/bible study (call it what you want) at
in Mt. Pleasant. Thanks to our great friend, supporter and owner of Charleston Watersport Outfitters Dave Clifford, we hold it in the comfort and convenience of his store. We usually go until 7:45am to 8:00am so you can scoot to work or school. Our James Island/Folly small group is on hold as Chris Costa and Amy recover from the birth of their boy Noah. We will send an update as soon as we know how this will be structured and when.

Thanks for all your support and prayers. Please keep Clay Dale in your prayers as he recovers from cancer surgery and continues chemo at home and MUSC. Please keep Peter Kohn's father Rudy in your prayers as he battles cancer. Please don't hesitate to reply to this e-mail with any prayer requests. The power of prayer is an amazing gift God has given us. Finally, don't forget we have a facebook group called Christian Surfers Charleston and we would love for you to take the challenge to join and bring along one other friend who could benefit from the message and love God has to share.

Peace in Christ,
Todd Brazell, Chris Costa, Milton Costa, Kurtz Smith and
