Imagine a surfer friendly Alpha course style DVD with solid gospel content delivered by surfers for surfers. Last month in Capetown the first of 7 videos had a trial run at a youth outreach concert. Of the 250 largely unsaved guys, some 120 came forward at the end of the appeal given by the DVD. Gifted evangelist and surfer Terryn Williams delivers the material. World Tour Chaplaincy With the Hawaii season now completed, both Abe Andrews and Liselle Wilsnaugh have completed their first full year of chaplaincy on the WCT Pro Tour. Abe has made all of the men's events and Liselle most of the fragmented women's tour. Abe reports that there has been great open doors and a very favourable reception, while Liselle is finding the women's tour much tougher. Please pray for them both and send a note of encouragement. Pastor Mike Stangel, the Triple Crown Chaplain, reports a great open door by director Randy Rarick, "Randy has requested that I take initiative to pray for the surfers and in this way bring God into the Triple Crown. With the heavy waves this year, there were many takers!"

QUIKSILVER In Memory of EDDIE AIKAU

Tournament in Memory of Eddie Aikau

The tournament in memory of Eddie Aikau captures the heart of one of the true legends of the surf and recounts the story of his life and death in a way that can not easily forget.

Begins with a traditional Hawaiian ceremony, which opens the period of two months of waiting for a swell that makes rolling waves of 20 feet at Waimea Bay.




In Aikau's honor, the surfwear company Quiksilver sponsors the The Eddie — the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational in Memory of Eddie Aikau at Waimea Bay. The idea of the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational was created by Bruce Raymond and Bob McKnight.

Since its inception (Eddie Aikau's brother Clyde Aikau won the first Eddie in 1985), the tournament has only been held seven times, due to a precondition that open-ocean swells reach a minimum of 20 feet (this translates to a wave face height of over 30 feet).

The most recent tournament was in December 2004, when waves in the bay reached 30 to 50 feet (15 m) high.

The contest only invites 24 big-wave riders to participate in two rounds of competition. The event does not allow the use of jet skis to tow surfers into the waves.




In 1978, the Polynesian Voyaging Society was seeking volunteers for a 30-day, 2,500-mile (4,000 km) journey to follow the ancient route of the Polynesian migration between the Hawaiian and Tahitian island chains. At 31 years of age, Eddie Aikau joined the voyage as a crew member.

The Hokule'a left the Hawaiian islands on March 16, 1978. The double-hulled voyaging canoe developed a leak in one of the hulls and later capsized about twelve miles (19 km) south of the island of Molokai.

In an attempt to get help, Eddie Aikau made a decision that costed his life, Eddie Aikau paddled toward Lanai on his surfboard. Although the rest of the crew was later rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard, Eddie Aikau was never seen again.

Eddie Aikau , he gave his own life while trying to save the lives of their friends.

He understood what being a true friend, give your life for the good of others.



It is no surprise when they retell the story of Eddie Aikau and our hearts are touched with respect.

There is a story in the pages of the Bible, about Jesus, who gave his life for everyone, even by those who do not know.

In Romans 5: 6-8 is written:

*6-You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

*7-Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.

*8-But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

"Eddie Would Go" , is written on the stickers and shirts.

But in the bible you will read that "JESUS WENT."

he went all the way up to the Cross for you.

Testimonio: Timmy Curran , conocido por sus Aéreos

Timmy Curran

Timmy Curran es lejos uno de los surfistas más reconocidos de los últimos años. Su habilidad para hacer aéreos lo ha hecho destacar en el tour mundial y en muchas películas de surf.

"Hice mi primer aéreo cuando tenia doce años y estaba encarrilado en la pared con una velocidad que nunca había alcanzado, y de pronto , la contra ola chocó con la ola mientras yo golpeaba el lip y me lanzó muy alto, no sé cómo, simplemente me lanzó lejos en el aire y recuerdo estar en el aire, mirando abajo y pensando: "Estoy en el aire y mís pies están perfectamente sobre la tabla y estoy volando". Me cai , pero recuerdo que pensé , es el mejor sentimiento de surfear."




El surf le ha dado a Timmy mucho y él está encantado con lo que ser un surfista profesional le ha permitido lograr.




"El surf es la vida para mi y luego de muchos años surfeando siento amor por eso , y me pagan por viajar por el mundo y divertirme y ver lo que Dios ha creado".

Sin embargo, aprecia la creacion de Dios más allá del mero reconocimiento. Es un Cristiano comprometido, no sólo con el surf , sino con el Dios que hizo las olas.


Su familia lo ha apoyado más de lo que cualquier surfista puede pedir ; no sólo le enseñaron a conocer el mar , sino también a Dios mismo.





Timmy recuerda, "Acepté a Jesús en mi corazón cuando tenia cinco años y basicamente fueron mi mamá y mi papá sentados en el sofá conmigo simplemente explicándome todo lo que Dios ofrece y cuánto me ama y cómo si lo acepto iré al cielo. Cuando eres un niño pequeño, dices "claro, eso suena genial". Es una situación en la que no hay pérdida, no es asi?

Recuerdo que ellos me decian, no queremos obligarte así que anda, piénsalo y regresa, asi que me fui a mi habitación por cinco minutos y pensé , bueno , es tan fácil, asi que regresé y oré con ellos y desde entonces he tratado de ser lo mejor que puedo ser y vivir para Dios."

Pero Timmy se ha dado cuenta de que aunque la vida cristiana no es fácil , es el camino que lo ha llevado al mayor éxito.





"El surf , el dinero, todo lo que tengo, ni se acerca al sentimiento que me da Dios cuando estoy bien con él .Es increible", ahora , como un profesional sólido, Timmy reconoce su responsabilidad de ser un buen ejemplo y quiere dar a los demás la oportunidad de conocer a Cristo.

"Sí tienes la oportunidad de sentir algo mejor que cualquer cosa que esté allá afuera, bien puedes intentarlo y tú mismo te darás cuenta:


Dios hará cosas con tu Vida que te demostrarán que él es real , en muchas formas."

Testimonio: Luciano Casillas , conocido como “El Pecas” , un Surfero Canario

Nací en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria el 11 de marzo de 1972.Mis padres lucharon por tener una posición económica y una vida medianamente buena, y alcanzaron sus metas sociales: casa lujosa, coches , joyas , etc.

Sin embargo ,descuidaron lo más importante: cubrir las necesidades básicas de sus hijos, como amor , ternura y atención.Eso me llevó a tener una infancia con muchas carencias emocinales y a ser un chico introvertido y inclinado hacia lo prohibido.

Buscando las emociones de las cuales careci, empecé con el hachis como forma de vida.Luego, probé la cocaína y el éxtasis.

Cuando acabé el servicio militar , decidi irme lejos.Como el hijo pródigo, me fui con mi poca herencia y mi tabla a otra isla , donde desperdicié mi salud , viviendo de noche en uno de los peores lugares de Europa. Llegué a lo más bajo que se puede llegar.

Durante todo ese tiempo estuve con los mejores surferos del mundo , como Martin Potter , Matt Hoy , Timmy Curran y Kelly slater.

Surfeé y disfruté mi surf con ellos , y cumpli el sueño de codearme y surfear con los mejores , pero mi vida era un caos.

Dejé de surfear con patrocinadores.Llegué a estar en todos los hospitales psiquiátricos de Canarias , huyendo de todos ellos como en una pelicula de acción , con dramáticas fugas, seguidas de verdaderos cataclismos mentales. Fui perseguido por guardias civiles y municipales en mi andar esquizofrénico.

Un dia, en uno de mis encierros psiquiátricos, oí que Timmy Curran estaba surfeando en una playa de Lanzarote.Al início no me reconoció por el efecto de los medicamentos , el exceso de peso y la mala cara.

Luego, asombrado , me preguntó que me pasaba y le dije que la droga , la mala vida y mi enfermedad esquizofrénica me tenian mal , a lo que respondió simplemente: "Lee la Biblia y sigue Surfeando".

Sólo segui ese consejo y , despues de adquirir una Biblia, leer y empezar a estudiarla, mi vida cambió hacia lo espiritual.De pronto, aparecieron dos brasileños ofreciéndome el apoyode un patrocinador por Tenerife.

Coincidentemente , sus esposas eran creyentes fervientes y me llevaron a la iglesia , donde me impactó ver a muchas personas glorificando a Jesús con todo su corazón.

Mi caminar con el Señor fue un éxito incalculable ."La Biblia hizo que mi vida se tornara para bien. Empecé a tener una relación intima y estrecha con Dios.

Recuperé a uno de los mejores patrocinadores de Europa y recorrí el circuito europeo.Un sueño hecho realidad. Me mantuve sin drogarme , salir de fiesta y me gozaba predicando de Jesús por toda Europa.

Al Cabo de un tiempo, recaí en los vicios y la vida desordenada, pero Dios , en su infinita fidelidad, usó a una persona para acercarme a él y no apartarme nunca más.

Finalmente , llegué a FuerteVentura , donde ahora el Señor me está usando en un hermoso ministerio llamado SurfingCell.

Hoy , sirvo al Señor con todas mis fuerzas , habiendo sido sanado por su poder de la esquizofrenia, cosa increíble para los psiquiatras.
