Christian Surfers Canada

Christian Surfers Canada is now an official association in Halifax, Nova Scotia and registered and approved with the Canadian government. They have a great leadership team with seven people including Bridget Turner as Director and National Contact. Bridget says, "I've got a great crew that has some great ideas and loves to reach out to the surf community." The team is well supported by Stoneridge Fellowship Baptist Church and meet regularly for food, fellowship and Bible study. The summer schedule was full of outreach events and surfing on the local beaches. We look forward to Canada becoming an official emerging nation in 2012.

Uma surpresa em cada onda

Lembro-me como se fosse ontem, ainda na era “pré-internética”, a expectativa de cada
novo amanhecer. Na verdade, tudo começava na sexta-feira, após uma semana de estudos e trabalho, aproximava-se a tão esperada hora…Pegar uma carona ou o carro, sozinho ou de preferência com algum brother, e “descer” a serra, rumo ao litoral. Esta foi e é minha realidade e de mais algumas centenas de surfistas de São Paulo, do Brasil e mundo afora.

A parafina de côco, a prancha triquilha devidamente acomodada numa capa, uma cordinha extra, chave de quilha, protetor solar, uma toalha já gasta pelo tempo, algumas bermudas, óculos de sol, etc…, e muito, muito “apetite” por ondas...

Estes são alguns dos ingredientes de uma boa surftrip de final de semana. No carro aquele som maneiro e o pára-brisa ligado. Frente fria chegando do sul e a expectativa
de altas ondas a caminho.

EXPECTATIVA!!!! Esta é a palavra.

Acho que nada define melhor o surf do que a expectativa de pegar altas ondas!!!

E só quem surfa sabe ao pé da letra o que isto significa. Quantas vezes, ainda escuro, fui checar as condições do mar e fiquei surpreso com os melhores mares da minha vida, quando nem imaginava que teria boas ondas.

Como é bom sentir a adrenalina correr pelas veias diante do inesperado!

Quando descobri a Palavra de Deus senti a mesma sensação inesperada de ser surpreendido, só que de uma forma muito mais “irada”, sempre que leio as histórias deste grande livro da Vida!

Muitas vezes, até aparentemente sem esperar muito, ao me deparar com as experiências de homens e mulheres como nós, apenas separados por um lapso de tempo, me surpreendo como o próprio Criador fala em meu coração em cada palavra, em cada linha. São passagens que vem direto ao encontro das mais profundas necessidade e anseios da alma, como um poderoso backwash, jogando para cima todos os medos e nos fazendo refletir para qual direção de fato corre a onda certa!

Passados muitos anos, ainda continuo a me surpreender quando mesmo com toda tecnologia de previsão das ondas pela internet, chego na praia e o mar está ESPETACULAR, muito além do previsto.

Faço um desafio a você! Quando você abrir este livro, abra também seu coração e mente e descubra como eu e tantos outros brothers e sisters pelo mundo afora, se surpreendem ao ler o conteúdo maravilhoso da mensagem Daquele que nos criou e tudo o que no mundo há; inclusive as ONDAS!!!

Acredito que sua vida nunca mais será a mesma e quem sabe, algum dia destes, não
nos encontramos surfando o melhor mar de nossas vidas… pois ele com certeza virá!!!

Saved: Maybe in 1978 when I was a small child 4-7 years old

Testimony:
I was raised in a loving Christian home with both Parents and 3 younger Brothers in the desert town of Santee, CA. The first time I remember saying the “sinner’s prayer” to accept Jesus in to my life was with a baby sitter at McDonalds before I dove into my happy meal.

I have been supernaturally blessed ever since. Throughout my life growing up the Lord protected me from all kinds of harm, and the temptation of drugs and alcohol.

I always wanted to save sex for marriage and God gave me the will to. He’s given me all my needs. I feel like I’ve always had the Holy Spirit leading me through life. I believe that my family’s prayers for safety have been answered on all our crazy adventures. I’m a living miracle, God took this inland raised little girl and blessed me with gifts of the sea

I met my husband, Shayne, at a surfers Bible study called “Pizza and Prayer” lead by Peter King when I was only 19. Two years later he proposed to me with his hand-carved coconut shell ring on the island of Bawa in Indonesia after being lost at sea in a tiny fishing boat for 3 days.

We have been married for 8 years now and have had many beautiful adventures, many blissful times and a few major trials that in the end made our marriage even stronger. The trials that we went through in our marriage really tested my faith in love and God. It was in this time I distanced myself from God and tasted hell.

I realized then that that’s what hell is, separation from God. Through prayer and a commitment to stay together we could see that Satan was really trying to win in our marriage. We ultimately wanted God to be glorified in our marriage. With God’s healing and forgiveness our relationship is 200% better.

The Lord has blessed Shayne and I with enchanted lives of world travel, careers as artists, surfers, and TV show producers, and our home little beach bungalow and after wanting children for the last 3 years we are pregnant with our first boy! God is so awesome!

Jesus taught me to have faith to walk on water and to love people of all cultures. He paid the ultimate price for my sins so that I can live a life of forgiveness and have a personal relationship with God. Jesus has given me true freedom, and taught me the meaning of true unconditional love.

The Bible promises that if we delight ourselves in the Lord that he will give us the desires of our heart. Jesus daily encourages me to use my talents to glorify him and bless others. I try to put Jesus first in my everyday life and career.

In the morning Shayne and I read the Bible together to grow closer to God. In my artwork I use symbols and Bible verses to send the positive message. In our surfing we get to be a part of and feel the power of Gods amazing creation. Surfing is a perfect time to worship and talk to God.

I guess if there were anything I can say to encourage you, it would have to be that God truly loves you and knows you better than you know yourself. His desire is to have a relationship with you. He has the unlimited abilities and wants to bless you in supernatural ways. I know that God is the one who blesses me because I have given my life to him, and there is no way that I could have accomplished all that I have on my own.

Shaper John Carper

Que ce soient Shane Dorian, affrontant les barrels géants, Peter Mel les monstres de Mavericks ou Rochelle Ballard de gigantesques tubes, il n'ont qu'un seul label sous leurs pieds : JC.

JC sont les initiales de John Carper, fondateur de JC surfboards.
John a habité et surfé dans les îles d'Hawaï pendant plus de 35 ans.





« J'ai commencé à surfer à 10 ans au début des années 50. Le surf a aussitôt pris une grande place dans ma vie. Suivre les vagues a été source de bonnes comme de mauvaises expériences : j'ai adopté pendant ma jeunesse tous les mauvais côtés du Surf. »

Les initiales JC désignent aussi une autre influence majeure dans la vie de John :
Jésus Christ.





« Je suis devenu chrétien il y a environ 20 ans, grâce à une série d'évènements. L'un des plus importants fut de me fracturer les cervicales un jour de grosse houle à Hawaï. J'ai été à moitié paralysé pendant un an et demi, et j'ai commencé à lire la Bible. Une fois guéri, j'ai vécu sans argent dans une cabane. Un vrai clochard.

J'avais faim et des vieilles dames m'invitaient régulièrement à leur étude biblique où il y avait de la bonne nourriture. Toutes les semaines je jurais de ne pas y retourner et pourtant je ne pouvais pas m'en empêcher. Et puis un jour, Dieu ouvrit mon coeur et me révéla qui il était.

J'ai alors compris que si je voulais suivre la bonne voie, je n'avais pas d'autre choix
que de le suivre. Dieu m'avait permis de devenir shapeur, c'était une bénédiction
et je désirais la partager avec d'autres.





C'est donc à travers « JC Surfboards » que j'ai choisi de servir le Seigneur.

Je ne veux pas paraître super spirituel, mais il est vrai que j'ai trouvé dans la Bible, de véritables réponses à mes questions et des enseignements qui allaient guider ma
vie. J'ai fait d'elle mon « Manuel des Affaires ». »

Maintenant John cherche à toucher d'autres surfeurs, comme il a été touché par ces vieilles dames.

« J'ai toujours aimé faire la fête et voir du monde, mais après avoir rencontré Dieu,
j'ai réalisé qu'il était inutile de se saoûler pour s'amuser.

Etsuko, ma femme, aimant cuisiner, c'est en combinant nos talents et désirs qu'aujourd'hui nous recevons des gens à dîner.

» John et Etsuko proposent au delà de ces repas une nourriture spirituelle : la parole de Dieu.

Comme l'a dit Jésus dans l'Evangile de Jean : « Je suis le pain de vie. Celui qui
vient à moi n'aura jamais faim, et celui qui croit en moi n'aura jamais soif »

JC recommande donc JC comme seule et véritable satisfaction.
